Figures and sacred beings
Native American
Five figures and sacred beings, each named with the nation whose tradition they belong to.
Please read first. These are figures and sacred beings of living traditions, not museum pieces. “Deity” is an outside word, and where it is not accurate the page says “figure” or “sacred being”. Each card names the nation it belongs to and does not blend one nation’s story with another’s. The site draws on accounts published by the nations themselves, museums and scholars, links to them, and does not retell ceremonies or restricted knowledge. Accounts differ between communities and tellers, and the site does not speak for any nation. The Cherokee figure stays on the Cherokee tab. The Seven Hathors are the site owner’s own reimagined presences and are kept apart.
